Shalya Chikitsa is one of the important branches of Ayurveda. Shalya Tantra possesses great utility for the management of many medical emergencies where minor or major surgical intervention needed. The gynecological problems many times need special surgical interventions therefore it is required to explore the role of Shalya Chikitsa in Prasuti Tantra and Stree Roga. Anushastra Karma or Parasurgical procedures means surgical procedure performed by non-surgical items or in absence of surgical instruments. Acharya Sushruta has described 60 upkrama, 25 upyantra and 14 Anushastra for the management of wound in different conditions. Shasti upkrama includes kshara karma, agni karma and uttar basti etc. Regarding Stree roga Kshar karma, Uttar Basti karma are quite popular due to its excellent result and no adverse effect if followed properly. These parasurgical procedures are simple and no sophisticated instruments, devices, anaesthesia and analgesia is required. Ayurvedic Parasurgical procedures have great role to fight against the chronic infectious and non-infectious disease of female genital tract. This is a conceptual type of study. Textual materials are used for the study from which various references have been collected. Main Ayurvedic texts used in this study are Charak Samhita, Sushrata Samhita, Ashtang-Sangraha. Commentaries are also included in it. Various online journals, Research papers magazines have been searched from Pubmed and NCBI to collect the valuable related information.

Ayurveda is one of the oldest sciences of disease prevention and treatment which described many concepts related to the health and well-being. The traditional literatures of Ayurveda encompass many evidences related to the utility of Shalya Chikitsa in various health aliments. Acharya Sushruta, the father of surgery described many concepts of surgery and applications of Shastra Karmas for different therapeutic purposes. The Ayurveda concepts and methods of surgery can be employed successfully to cure different health issues including obstetrics and gynecological problems. The female disorders like; Granthi, Arbuda, Stanarogas and Arshas, etc. need assistance of Shastra karma when immediate attention required. Therefore, the Ayurveda physician must be aware about the practicing of Shastrakarma in Streeroga.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
This is a conceptual type of study. Textual materials are used for the study from which various references have been collected. Main Ayurvedic texts used in this study are Charak Samhita, Sushrata Samhita, Ashtang-Sangraha.
Poverty, illiteracy, poor hygiene, social and religious factors impose more challenges to the reproductive health of females in developing countries. Today the increasing burden of cost on healthcare sector demand to search simple cost effective, non-recurrent, with no adverse effect, acceptable, effective therapy. Ayurvedic Para surgical procedures are safe and effective, day care procedures. Kshar karma, Agni karma, jaulka, uttar basti, yoni pichu, yoni prakshlanam are the important Para surgical procedure of Ayurveda to treat the various reproductive tract diseases of female. Multicentered clinical trial and Proper training to present human resources of health care sector can produce lot of changes in the present situation.
Ayurvedic Para surgical procedure helps to reduce the total cost burden spent on chronic debilitating diseases of females’ reproductive tract by the health care system. This simple treatment technique is boon for the women of developing and poor country because of its low cost and quite simple. It limits the hospital stay and mostly they are day care procedure. It limits the irrational improper and unnecessary use of antimicrobial drugs that result in antimicrobial resistance. Increasing incidence of female infertility (due to tubal factor or unknown etiology) and cervical cancer (chronic non healing cervical ulcer) Uttar Basti karma and kshar karma respectively are very effective mode of treatment the minimum recurrence.
